The Ilford MOD54 is a custom insert designed for processing sheet film in a Paterson 3-reel tank. It lets you develop up to six 4x5 inch sheets at the same time, with ridged guides that make loading easier in the darkroom.
To use it, place the sheets into the tank and match the ridges on the film with the ridges at the top of the MOD54. One liter of chemistry is enough to fill the tank and fully cover the film. Agitate according to the developerās instructions, typically for the first 60 seconds and then 10 seconds every minute after that.
For best results, it is a good idea to test your development time and practice with the MOD54 before regular use. When processing fewer than six sheets, dummy sheets can be added to fill the remaining slots and help maintain even chemical flow. These should be placed in the inner slots.
This accessory is intended for inversion processing only. Stand development and rotary processing are not recommended. Very thin films may require special adjustments for proper use.
